If I were you, I would get Firefox.

http://www.getfirefox.com
Get firefox or download service pack 2 so you can download internet explorer 7!
Tools, internet options, advanced tab, restore to defaults.
Restoring Your Default Settings

Open the Internet icon in your Control Panel, from your Start menu.

This should open the Internet Properties window.

Click on the Advanced tab.

At the bottom of the window their will be a Restore Defaults button.

Click the Restore Defaults button.

Click the OK button.

All Done! This should restore the Internet Explorer default settings.

Hope it helps you...
You can try this tool to fix it:
