I was trying to type orkut.com on my internet explorer address bar on one of my college comps... but before i completed... the window closed and an error message appeared saying... "Orkut is banned for you fool... this program is not written by the administrator... then guess who did??? mu ha ha ha"
I have never seen anything like this before... Does anybody have an idea how the internet explorer address bar can be tweaked this way... I also tried opening it by first searching in google and by entering it in the my computer address bar... but couldn't get through...
anybody has any idea how this can be removed???

if you are sure orkut is not banned by your college sys admin then the right person who can fix this is your admin himself!
just ask him to fix this for you!

It sounds like your computer has been spammed.
You might consider the following steps:
1. Run an antivirus program
2. Run adware programs
3. Inform your adminstrator
I tried it and it seems fine, had no problems. Either try using a different browser, opera or firefox, as these are more secure and you can block any nasties, and/or check for spyware, if you dont already have it, try adaware spyware remover, free, do a full scan. Theres also a ccleaner that will remove any unwanted cookies, temp files/folders.

its a virus stop the process svchost.exe run by the current user then delete the regentries related to that or get the infor from googling orkut virus then if the admin has blocked orkut use some proxy like http://kproxy.com or http://pagemod.com i prefer pagemod
Try one of these proxy links to go around college security. Just pick one and then put the URL in it and press ok or go, etc and that should get you thru.
